SANDY, UT – WCF Insurance hosted its 34th annual Legacy of Learning Scholarship Luncheon at the Grand America Hotel, where 22 deserving undergraduate and postgraduate students were awarded scholarships. This emotional and inspiring event celebrated the resilience and achievements of the families of workers who tragically lost their lives in work-related accidents.
Since 1990, WCF has awarded over 1,300 scholarships totaling more than $2.9M, reflecting WCF’s unwavering commitment to supporting injured workers and their families. This year’s event was an impactful reminder of the value of education and the ability to persevere in the face of adversity.

None of us sails through life without adversity…but we are here today because of our jointly held hope for the future, to support these recipients in achieving their goals, and to honor the memory of the family members who lost their lives at work.”, said Matt Lyon, CEO and President, WCF Insurance.
Mackenzie Riviera, one of the 2024 Legacy of Learning Scholarship recipients, shared her heartfelt story, saying, “My father’s example instilled in me a strong desire to learn and pursue my own educational goals. Even though he is no longer here, his influence continues to guide and motivate me. It is because of his support, even in his absence, that I am here today, pursuing my dreams and receiving this scholarship.”
