SALT LAKE CITY, September 8, 2023 – Father of the Year Selection Committee has chosen Adrian Requena as the 2023 Father of the Year for his unwavering dedication to his family and community. Hundreds of nominations were recieved from across the state, and a panel of community leaders thoughtfully considered each.
Adrian's nomination was submitted by his 8 year-old son, who spoke highly of his father's resilience and love:
"Despite needing a new kidney, my dad still managed to work to support our family. Even when he was tired and connected to medical equipment, he found time to play with me. He's not just my hero; he's my best friend and the most important person to my mom and me."
Adrian conducted the honorary coin flip before the Real Salt Lake v. Houston Dynamo game on August 26th and was honored on-field during halftime. WCF Insurance also celebrated two additional recipients, Juan De Dio Rodriguez and Gilbert Zambrano, with the title of "Exemplary Father".
For 16 years, WCF Insurance has been recognizing outstanding fathers in our community in an effort to acknowledge those who go above and beyond fo their families, raise awareness about workplace safety, and educate the public about workers' rights. The annual even enjoys strong community support and highlights WCF Insurance's commitment to the growing and diverse cultures within Utah.
We extend our gratitude to Real Salt Lake for hosting the event and to our partners - Weber State University, Grantire Credit Union, and the Suazo Business Center - for their integral role in the selection process. We value these partnerships and extend our congratulations to this year's honorees.
